Everyone needs cheering up from time to time. If you’ve come to my blog looking for inspiration to seek your own happiness — welcome, dear reader, and I hope you find something that brings a smile to your face.
Hi, I’m Mimi. I’m an engineer working on automation of large-scale high-speed manufacturing systems — which means that I make machines make things. In my alternate avatar, I blog about life’s many inspirations and annoyances.
My family doctor tells me that 1 in every 5 of his patients suffers from depression. If that’s so, dear reader, chances are that you know (and perhaps love) someone who does. I’ve had chronic depression since my teenage years, and as such, finding joy in life has been my greatest challenge. I persist in looking for inspirations to be happy — for what would be the point in living if I gave up? Circumstances have made me an expert at this quest. I’ve sought happiness in doing things (Travel and Fun in NYC), absorbing things (Books), thinking about things (Life), and sometimes on days when there is no inspiration to be found (Mental Health).
I’ll be blogging about all of these things, posting every weekend. Please comment — I shall only be moderating comments if they become too hostile to the community.
If you are a fellow seeker between bouts of depression, a friend hoping to lend an understanding ear and helping hand, a mental health professional looking for a first-person client perspective, and a visitor just in need of a pick-me-up — I hope you’ll find a post that speaks to you today. Remember — life is about the joy of living!
